Amen. I'd like to get spares for mine.
They sure are pricey.

I've owned twelve different 52 mags and currently own ten. I'm thinking about half have been metal follower and half the later production plastic.

I have yet to notice a difference in performance between them but the "metal follower is better" gets mentioned a lot.

Anyone have specific trouble with a plastic follower Model 52 magazine?

Yes, I had a problem with the slide not locking back with the plastic followers but it did lock back with metal followers. The metal followers were slightly wider. It may have been a problem with the slide stop because I finally obtained (at great expense) a NOS slide stop and all the problems went away. But I had sold all the plastic follower magazines so I don't know if it would work with them. I've got a few plastic followers that I could install but I haven't bothered yet.

Model 52 S&W Magazine

Several years ago I sold my Model 52 when I still lived in the Portland, OR area. Wife and I moved to the Tampa FL area over 5 years ago and a recent dig through the gun safe I discovered another Magazine that is for the Model 52. This one was used some but is super fine and has the steel lips.

I would like to sell it, not to gouge but at a fair price. What do you think its worth? Not the $90 that EBAY was attempting to sell in the past for but something reasonable.

I can shoot a picture of it if you have any interest. It has the S&W ID on the base and the metal follower. Any interest hit me with an e-mail: [email protected] Thanks. Lee

I too had a problem with the plastic follower not pushing the slide stop up. I took a jewelers saw and made a very fine kerf right at the top of the protrusion that pushes the slide stop up. Then I epoxied a piece of razor blade into the kerf and onto the protrusion and filed it down so it would go into the magazine and operate the slide stop. No more problems.
