Model 547 NIB Value?

I've retrieved a NIB Model 547 from "deep storage." I've owned it since I bought it new.
I'm interested in selling, but I don't know what a fair price would be.

Specs
S&W 547, 9mm, 4"
NIB, never fired by me (maybe by factory)
Rarely touched, encased in S&W brown paper, kept in warm indoors
Still in original box, with cleaning tools, but no documentation except for box label
Don't know date of manufacture. Serial number is 19Dxxxx.
According to label, finish is "B", stock is "SB"

So, what's the current price for private sale?

Yours is the 4” version, made circa 80-81. Conservatively $1800 to $2500, maybe more to the right buyer. The 3” is more desirable.

Welcome! Its value depends on how quickly you need/want money should you decide to sell it; right now many gun owners are distracted by the economy, man-made ammo shortages and that virus thing. You will probably find someone not affected by all this who would be happy to quickly pay $1500-1800 now, but I would guess your buyer's pool will be larger in a few months and the value might be higher.

In the meantime, posting photos would help keep those of us under "stay-at-home" orders happier . Good luck in your decision.

Keep checking Gunbroker for guns with bids on them it will give you a good gauge on what they’re worth. Smith and Wesson did an open house at my local gun shop and bought a bunch of guns with them and they had a brand new one in the box and I picked it up really really cheap and used gunbroker to see what they were going for and when I sold it I doubled my money back.

10K+ made. Not something you see everyday, but not rare. I've seen them go for big money, but the buyers' must have been highly motivated. Good luck.

The S&W factory tells me the revolver was made in 1983. Could it really be 37 years already?

The local gun dealer hasn't assessed value, but he takes 25% for anything sold on consignment. I've seen outrageously high prices listed on GunBroker and elsewhere, but it's not clear what the sale price ends up being.

Actually I have two Model 547, but I've fired the other one, and I want to keep it.

Sold recently on GB (all three fired, no box/papers); two 3 inch 547s, one sold for $1650, one for $1255. The third was a 4 inch for $1199.

Seems like NIB should be $1500+ but it is an unusual time just now. Good idea to offer it here and see what happens; $1650 certainly seems reasonable as a place to start. No cost to you to try it. Good luck.

That's the total number 547's made. 3784 is the reported number of 4" produced.

The 3" bring good money.. A NIB 4" should do very well..

I have a 4" in my cross hairs right now and have been wondering the value, it is in the original box, but does not have all the other little items that come ANIB condition. I guess I will have to pull the trigger on it.

I have a 4" that is an ammo eater. Anything you shove in the cyl.,
she eats and ejects perfectly. Great gun, sad they dont make them anymore. Shoots like any mod-10.
