I have been watching for an early model 57 with the 4" barrel for some time now. I wanted one of the lazy "&" barrels and I did not care about the grips since I had a set of cokes stashed in the parts box. I recently bought an old model Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt with a brass Ruger grip frame for the express purpose of using it as trading stock towards the 57. Ironically, while the Ruger was in transit, I heard of an early model 57 with an S prefix that a guy wanted to sell. The only problem, it did not have any grips! Talk about lucking out! I worked out a deal to get the 57 and it arrived the day before the Ruger so now I can find a new home for the Ruger. I know the picture is dark but I could not be more pleased with the old 57.

This is the old model 45 that I need to put in the classifieds so it can find a new home.

You have to love it when blind luck looks like a plan coming together!

I just love it when a plan comes together, even when it's sorta unplanned. Good for you! Cross one more off the list.

Good looking pair of guns. That 4 inch model 57 is my favorite though. If you don't mind what are the first three serial numbers?

57s are really nice guns. Glad there are still folks that don't realize the bennies of a 41 mag.

I never even heard of a 41 mag till about 4 years ago!! Now I am OBSESSED with getting one just like the OP got! I'm afraid the secret is getting out....And as always, I'm late to the party.

Very nice m57 rbrbrb6! Who's jealous?? This guy! :)

That's a beauty ya got there. Now take her out on a date and give her some ammo to put down range.

Nice catch! I'm envious of the "just had a pair of Cokes rattlin' around" situation!

I have two four inch 57s, both shooters. I don't believe there is a much more practical round than the 41 Mag. You can go bigger and more powerful (trust me, I have!), but I don't think any other round strikes the balance of power and controllability that the 41 does.

Great find!!!

I had also been looking for a 4" 1964. Found one priced right as the Cokes were missing...and had an extra set of Cokes that came off a 27-2 I bought...

Sometimes things just come together..Bob
