I have 4 model 57 no dash N frame's but I also have one model 57 dash 0 and have been a collector of Smith and Wesson's for too many years to count. I have yet to see a dash 0 other than this one. I would appreciate any information anyone one on the forum my have.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You mean that someone actually stamped 57-0? If that is the case, then I would suspect that it was an employee error.

I have one. N3XX XXX, not nere it and can't remember the rest. On mine and most likely on your's it's an overstamp of an 29-2 so it needs the -0 to cover the -2. If you look close enough you might see the 29-2 underneath.
Long time listener, first time caller. Thanks for all of the infotainment in the past.

Like ND I have one as well. It also started life as a 29, think it was a dash 2 as well and over stamped 57-0, mine a nickle 4 inch.

Agree with this likely being an over stamp of another model mark. There was at least one model that was deliberately stamped this way, the 627-0; I think the 627 was made in very small numbers and the -0 followed soon afterward with fairly minor changes. (Just like Dr Lou wrote right before me :)).

Thanks guys for all the responses. I appreciate the comments as I had no idea. It is also nice to hear that someone else had a dash o gun. I'll just take it to the range and have a good time.

The guy I bought my 57 no dash from had a -0 also. The no dash gun was a first year. I assumed the -0 was later.
