Model 57...or what

I just saw an ad for a model 57 but clearly shown in a pic i have seen, it has fixed service style sights....like a 58. Is it possible that a 57 had fixed sights?

I will be able to look at it tomorrow but would like to go into the negotiation with as much knowledge as possible.

Either the seller put down the wrong number or the gun is mis-marked which is fairly common with S&Ws.

Not in shooter condition.

There are a few collectors that will pay a slight premium for oddities like yours, but the firearms need to be in good condition.

Got to lay my hands on it. It was a 58 no dash. VERY worn bluing. Original grips gone. Dirty. Messed up screw heads but side plate in ok shape. Sold at auction for $875. Still scratching my head.
