I picked up this M57 this morning, #S249xxx. The handgun was carried by a conservation officer, evidently for many, many years. Some holster wear at the muzzle, chip out of the bottom of one of the stocks but overall in pretty nice shape especially considering it was a working gun. Is it carrying "cokes"? I'm kind of new to this game :D. There is a definite palm swell especially on the left hand side. It also has a target hammer and target trigger. I picked it up for $600.00 out the door.

As an aside did "cokes" come with a target hammer and trigger as part of a target package? Did they have to be ordered special?

Nice gun and stocks. With the cokes, I'd say you actually got the gun for about $250! Good job!

That revolver sure doesn't appear to have been a daily carry of a wildlife officer. It must have been his "show gun" or carried only when he sensed trouble.

Great gun at a real good price!.

Great gun at a GREAT price. Someone will probably be along soon to correct me but I'm not aware of any "packages" whereby a set of target grips automatically accompanied TTs and THs. I could be wrong...

very very nice....there is a S#'d 57 on gunbroker right now for around $600 but it doesnt come with the bonus COKES :D...it has Pachs...

That was my thought. The little bit of wear at the muzzle comes from setting in a box. There should be far more wear from holstered carry.

Thanks for all the nice replies. It was kind of a hectic situation when I first looked at the gun and while feeling there was something kind of 'elegant' about the stocks I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. When I got home that night I still couldn't get those stocks out of my mind. Half-way through my Grey Goose martini it dawned on my: Gee, maybe they're cokes DUH! :o. I went back today and felt pretty sure about it but.....like I wrote previously I'm kind of new at this game.

For what it's worth I didn't buy the sidearm from a widowed pensioner needing $$$ for a mortgage payment or an operation - I bought it from a gun store. Thanks again. Anymore insight on 'cokes' would be appreciated.

You got a screaming deal! One of my Model 57's is also a S249XXX that is in Nickel and I understand it is fairly early in the production of the Model 57's run. There great guns to say the least and everyone I have fired is amazingly accurate. You will enjoy this gun immensely. Kyle

Coke bottle stocks were standard on the 44 Magnum that was introduced in December 1955 and also on the 41 Magnum that was introduced in March 1964. Coke bottle stocks were phased out beginning in early 1966 and eventually replaced on these two models by diamond target stocks made of Goncalo alves. Your 41 Magnum is a first year gun that was shipped in mid to late 1964.
