Model 58 in nickel questions

Old thread, but great that it has been resurrected. I have a LNIB M58, nickel, box, docs, tools, everything. One of my friends had a "gathering" of like minded gun owners, and I took my M58. I had several serious offers that were in the range of what crsides, Charlie, mentioned. Not selling it, but I was a bit surprised by the interest.

I have an early example in nickel. It is now wearing stags by Grashorn and a tyler grip adapter. I could not imagine selling it as it is one of my all-time favorite guns. I may have to buy a rack of ribs just to be able to bring it out for BBQ detail :D

Can't comment on a specific price as I got a smoking deal on my nickle 58, also w/o the box or factory grips. It seems a little high but of course you have to factor in today's panic prices, where you are, etc.

I'd definitely take a look at it though. However, I wouldn't buy it if it wasn't super nice with no flaking. Nickle that is flaking will just get worse and worse.

My nickle 58 is the only nickle S&W I own, since I love 58's. Tried two other nickle guns (a triple lock and a pre war Heavy Duty) but had to trade them off...they just didn't grow on me. Bad nickle just looks...bad.

Good hunting

Well its over 3 years later since I opened this one up. I never did get a 58, nor a 57, and really I'm not concerned about them right now. I'm more into 5 screw guns at the present time. I would like a near mint 58 or perhaps a very nice early model 57, but I'm not actively looking for either at the moment.

I did however land a pair of the "modified" aka "PC" N frame magnas recently for around $60 - and if you inflate that "a little under $100" price estimate from 2010 to todays money, 3 years later, thats probably like $175 right now...

(relax, I know math, its called a hyperbole)

You arent interested in selling those grips to a fella with a 58 are ya?

I think two years ago I purchased a brand new m58 in nickel for $699. I ordered the round to square combat grips from the s&w store. The m58 in 41mag is a sweet shooter. The power to balance ratio is perfect.

I gave this to my wife for her 41st BD April 29 2014
She hasn't fired it yet. Vertigo is delaying that.
I may have to test it myself SOON!
