I have read quite a bit here over the years and enjoy the forum. I thought I would try to post a couple pictures of my Model 581. I grew up shooting a friends Model 586 and thought I would buy one someday but never managed to pick one up.

I stopped at a local shop a few years ago and found this 581 in the case. A bit used and most likely a former corrections or LEO turn in. She shoots to point of aim at 25yds with 158gn .357. Lock up is tight; a nice smooth Smith and my first L frame.

That's my favorite condition! Just a little wear in the right places so that I can shoot and handle it all I want without regret! Nice example, don't see 581's very often.

Yes sir, I don't mind honest wear on my guns at all. If it came down to keeping only one of my revolvers I think the 581 gets the nod.

My 581 (AAA40XX) is my only safe queen. I shoot all my other guns.
