model 59 date look up

as the title states id like to know the date and gen of my recent pick up its a blued prestine odel 59 serial a385xxx and how much an extra mag would cost thanks

ive yet to shoot this gun how are they and how well do they cycle ammo ive heard about jamming issues

I have a Model 59, have shot about 500 rounds thru it and have had zero problems with feed, fire, or ejection. for mags mine are Ram Line 9mm MAW 9117, you can google that and find some online. I also have a Stainless Steel mag with no writing on it, only a proof mark I can't make out and it is flush fitting. It is my favorite mag when carrying, because unlike the S&W mags it doesn't rattle.

Regarding your question on Model 59's jamming. What jamming. My department selected 59's when we retired our revolvers. I carried a Model 27 and was sad to see her go and cautious about the 59. This was circa mid 70's. We also tested 39's and had lots of problems. The 59's were rock solid. I have never had one single issue. No feed, fail to fire, or ejection problems to this date. Never heard of any of the other guys having problems either. Our range master never spoke of any problems either and he saw hundreds of 59's on the range.

Everyone has their favorites and preferences. I understand that but when the chips are down I would carry my 59 into hell.

i had seen early when i was looking them up that they had a narrow feed ramp and wouldnt cycle steel cased ammo im pretty sure it was on here i read it anyway hopefully ill be taking it out saturday to put some rounds through it

First handgun I purchased was a Model 59 in 1973. I've had it all these years and rarely shoot it now, but it's always been rock solid. I've never had an issue with mine.
