I just purchased a Model 5906 3rd generation, it was in a pawn shop and is in excellent condition now I am second guessing myself. I paid $375 for it, did I overpay for it or was that a reasonable price?

If the 5906 is in good shape that is an excellent price.
They are great shooters and are very well built.
Let us know how it shoots for you.

I don't see where that's a bad price at all. I paid $425 out-the-door (tax included) for mine and recently tried to buy another one (a really clean fixed sights version) for $400+Tax but the dealer sold it to someone else before I could get in touch with him to hold it for me. :(

Unless it is an old, beat-up cop trade-in, I think you did just fine. :)

I paid over $700 I think for a high condition 5906TSW.

Does that reassure you?

For me it is all about condition. Period.

The days of the $299 5906's are pretty much gone. If in nice shape, you did well.
You've got that right. Back in December 2012 I paid $275 plus shipping for mine.
$375 is an excellent price. Around here, if you can find them, the 5906 sells for $400 and higher.
You did well. ;)

You did good.....

....and I wish that I had it. I don't know how well you know these, but they are great guns, only displaced by the plastic trend. The only drawback is that parts are on the verge of being scarce.

You done did good. The good ones are getting harder to find. Check prices on GunBroker that should help ease your mind.

I recently paid $750 for an unfired NIB 5906, but that is a California price for an off-roster gun. I'd say you got a good deal (plus mine only came with CA safe 10 round mags). Glad I had a set of 15 round mags just sitting in a drawer....

Thanks for all the responses. Very reassured with the comments. I recently fired two magazines through the gun. No hangups and the sight is dead on. Thanks. Have acquired a 4006 and a 915 both great shooters.

Congratulations. Were the three 3rd gens bought within a short amount of time?

I bought a 3913 about a month ago, quickly followed by a 5904, then a 6906. :D:eek::D:eek:

I would never have bought so many close together if not for selling an HK P30L and P2000sk. The S&W 3rd Gens have so much more character:):):)

I have purchased all three within this year. The 915 and 4006 at one pawn shop, and the 5906 at another. This being a gambling town many great guns wind up in the local pawn shop, so I go to all the pawn shops to hunt down good guns and good deals
