Model 5946 hammer spring replacement

Dependabilty is KING, but, can the hammer spring be reduced on a 5946 and retain reliable primer inition? It is my understanding that the 5906 has a different hammer spring than the 5906. Asking for your experience please.

The standard spring is 22#, some DAOs' came with a 18#. I've used the 17# in my own guns with good results. I do replace them fairly offen and also replace the recoil spring when I do with the stock recoil spring.
