Model 60-16 Sight issue

My new 60-16 in .357 shot considerably left out of the box. I was able to turn the adjusting screw far enough to the right to hit center target, but the screw seems to have reached the end of the available adjustment.

Is there an easy way for me to move the sight so that I have more room if needed for windage?

Will S&W adjust this under warranty?

Or should I leave well enough alone?

The first question is are you sure it's the gun and not you? Sometimes letting a friend shoot it or if you have a rest or something it can help with it. I'm not trying to be mean or anything either, we have no idea how well you can shoot or your snub nose j frame experience.

If it is the gun the warranty will cover it for you. If the gun can't be fixed, it'll be replaced.

Edit: forgot to ask, is the barrel canted to the side? Meaning is it installed perfectly straight up and not over or under tightened?

Sir, Two things to check.

1. Barrel may be clocked ( canted) mine was on my 60 pro

2. Also check the rear sight for alignment on the top strap. On mine the channel the sight body is mounted in was milled at an angle ie not straight down the center of the top strap so the rear sight is at an angle for the bore axis. Hard to believe, I know.

Sent it to the factory. They clocked the barrel to 12 o'clock and ignored the crooked sight. It shoots ok now to 15 yds. Haven't tried it beyond that.

The fix was to realign the barrel. It didn't look off to me, but apparently it was. It only took S&W 6 calendar days from when they received it to ship it back. Thanks Joe for the correct diagnosis.

If the barrel was under-drawn, not fully turned up, enough to require the rear sight to be adjusted all the way to the right, you would have seen it! When the factory says "re-align" it doesn't usually mean they turned the barrel. You really don't want to know what was really done!
