Hello all,
I just had a quick question regarding a nice stainless S&W revolver that I picked up earlier today. It's a model 60-2 and has the letters NY-1 under the cylinder lock. I know this means it was part of a run done for the NYPD during the late 80's but I was wondering if it gives it anymore value. It also came with the original grips, pachmeyer grips, a very nice Galco shoulder rig and a box of shells..... I only paid $300.00 for everything

You over paid for that, luckily I would be more than glad to help you out and give you $299.99 of your money back. ha ha
You were very lucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You made a great deal on that gun. There are collectors that go after these and the like (agency/ department marked guns). With that said the Model 60-2 NY-1 was ordered with some unique required NYPD features and has some unique history over the standard S&W model 60 so in my opinion they're little more sought after by some collectors. I suggest you do a forum search on the NY-1 and take the time to read it all, it's a lot of information but well worth your time to know what you've got and to authenticate it; yes there are some NY-1 stamped fakes out there. Please post pics when you can. Again great find and welcome to the forum.

She still needs a good bath... but here she is! Let me know what you all think. And yes. I will check out the other NY-1 info in the forum for sure! Thanks for all the info!

The 60-2 was a special engineering change for the NYPD; I have not seen one that was not stamped NY-1. You got it at a very good price for any nice model 60, let alone an NY-1 stamped example.

Forum members RMVivas and RichCapeCod are the local authorities on these and may chime in.

Awesome! Well any info that they might be able to provide me on this beautiful piece would be greatly appreciated.
