I have a Model 60 that has me confused. It is a No Dash with serial number AEU7609 which should put in the 1984-85 ship range. According to the SW Catalog, No Dash stopped in 1972. I did see where a run was made for Ashland in 1985 with 3" Barrels but I thought these had adjustable sights. Any information would be appreciated

It is one of a run of 2 (less common) and 3" square butt model 60s, many of which went to the John Jovino store in NYC.

Model 60s were made from 1965 to 1988. The 60-1s were made during the same time period and did not replace it.

You have one of Jovino special run 3" square butt Model 60s in November 1984. Below are two others from that same run.

Thanks for the information. Any idea of how large or a run or how rare these are? I know value is a matter of speculation and a gun is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I recently had a Model 60 with an unfluted barrel which was a special run of only 500 but didn't seem to have any collectors value.

I have AEU8146, Product Code 102304, Spec Order 4208. The 4th addition puts that at 1988, which doesn't match the Product Code, Order number or serial #. Sorry, just added to the puzzle!

There were 600 of the 2" square butts and 1,000 of the 3" square butts, like yours. My 2" shipped in June 1984.

The last few I saw go on the big auction site went north of $1,200.

Just as an aside, S&W made 171 3" square butt Model 60-1s in 1972. The next 60-1 was the 2" Chiefs Special Target 1985 Ashland series, which numbered 660.

Then, there were no more 60-1s.

I covet one of your Model 60s with the unfluted barrel. :D

The Spec Ord number is a Julian Date, the first number being the year. Yours is July 26, 1984, which is consistent with all the Jovino square butts in my database.

No real puzzle. I don't think a book has ever been published that's error free.
