I have a Model 60-9 that I purchased new in 1998. It was born on Oct 9, 1997. It has seen little constant use over the years, but has not been a safe queen. The stainless steel finish is getting a little dull in spots, I would call it uneven. What can I do to polish it up some and make the finish look more even all over? Thanks for your reply.

60-9

Paper one of the best projects i ever completed was to send a 60-9 I had to Smith. I had them polish the cylinder and bead blast the frame and barrel. It created this really cool two tone stainless type finish. I had them bob the hammer and do a trigger job hat was like butter.
It was the ultimate carry gun. I foolishly traded it toward a $3,000 Wilson when i went thru my high end 1911 phase.
I have since reacquired a 60-9 i found NIB and I am thinking about giving it the same treatment without the hammer bob but not sure yet.
Just an idea you may want to consider. It really makes a worn gun look cool.

Flitz and a white tee shirt along with a gentle hand will give you a nice smooth finish. Clean off often to check the level of polishing you have achieved before continuing and stop when you have what you like. If you go too far you will make it brighter and brighter.

Thanks. I gave her a good shine today with Mother's. Good job for a rainy, cold, achy flu day.
