I recently picked up a model 60-3 from 92. It's LNIB. I have seen some posts about 60-4's and am wondering what the update/difference is? Also mine came with compact rubber grips, was this original?

Congratulations on the nice Model 60! (And the banjo!)
My guess is the factory used the wrong model stamp on your 60-4; the 2" fixed sight -3 was in production during the same time frame. The rubber stocks were factory standard.

Thanks Alan. When I got this a few months ago I posted the serial number and was told shipped may 92. Then I read in another post 60-4 3" target models were made in 1990. I was a little confused. I didn't realize different dash models were sold concurrently. The box shows prod code 102298 Ser# BND1218 Target hammer. Anyone have any other info? It's a nice little piece and I have only put a few rounds through it. Shoots very well.

Usually, the published information will tell you when it started production, not when it ended. It's unusual to have a gun made in only one year.
If you have the Special Order code from the end label, probably 2 with three trailing digits, we can tell you the day it was ready to ship, probably very close to the day it left the factory.

The SCSW 4th says your product code was made 1990 - 1995. The same source says your sn's alpha characters were from 1992; I don't know whether that's an absolute (e.g., were there no BND sns in 1991 or 1993?).
The "book" says the 60-3 began in 1988 and the 60-13 in 1996. So many variations, changes, and special releases (I just picked up 60-3 Lady Smith BDV56XX from '89, but the book says the 60-6 was the '89 Lady Smith with LDYXXXX sn). I can't keep up, especially with all the Model 36 and 60 examples.
Nice Deering Goodtime. Great sound! Cripple Creek. I just sold a Deering Sierra last year. Now my only one is handmade with a coffee can for the "bell" and a buckskin for the head. Really soft compared to the sand cast bell in the Sierra. It's fun.
