Model 60 question

Picked up a real nice 60 no dash w/Pachmayrs at what I think was a good price ($350). Confused on the serial number as I don`t see it in the book-unless I`m missing it;
AFE3xxx
SS hammer and smooth trigger, but a no pin barrel.
Also a number 6 in the middle of a heart stamped into the grip frame. I`ve never seen that before.
Anyone know what year this was made?

Those three alpha prefix serial numbers are a conundrum. What I've seen the experts advise is to find the closest match in the book, and that's generally your answer. The SCSW 4th has a great explanation of the general order/potential for disorder of the triple alpha serial number ranges. My best guess using the SCSW 4th is late 1984 - 1985 . . .

Muggins is correct. I would say early to mid 1980's as in 1983-1985.
