Model 60 questions

I just traded for a S&W model 60 supposed to be a no dash. On the revolver its stamped model 60 only. The guy I traded from said he thought it was mid 80s, didn't really know. The serial number is AHJ 8005. Just wondering if this is a no dash model or what, also can I shoot +P ammo with it? or should I stick to regular ammo? The gun is immaculate. He said he shot maybe a hundred rounds through it. If no +P ammo what do you all recommend I use for concealed carry ammo? Alls I have been able to find locally is FMJ but I am still looking. Any info on this beautiful little revolver would be greatly appreciated. Forgot the barrel seems to be 1 7/8 when I measure it. Thanks

You can shoot +p in it, and if it were any dash model it would say 60-? so yes you have a no dash model 60 and a great carry gun. Enjoy!

I carry Hornady Critical Defense 110 gr +P in mine.

+P chart

I have a 60-7 which contains a chart in the owners manual listing approved cartridges for each model. The +P is approved for 60-7 & 60-8 but not listed for the 60-1 through 60-6. I wouldn't have any concerns carrying it for personal protection. Personally, I practice with standard loads and save the hot loads for carry.

Yours was made in 1985, and the no dash model 60 was made until 1988. It is fine for +P ammunition, the 130 gr FMJ is a good practice load. Try several different rounds and find which works best for you and your gun.
