Stopped in the Albuquerque Cabela's today, and they had three (3) Model 60 revolvers in the used case.

Price tag was identical on all three, $399.

I had a salesman open the case, and examined all three. The oldest, and only one pinned, came home with me. Military discount dropped the price to $379. All three had obvious dings and dents, but not too bad. In as good, or even better, condition as some that have been in a local gun store for $549. The grips on this one are numbered to the gun, but I just pulled the trigger on some Altamont boot grips since these are pretty worn. The cylinder release screw was loose, but tightened right up. There was a little bit of surface rust under the grips, but a bronze brush and oil cleaned it off. Trigger pull, both DA and SA is excellent, and lockup is tight with small cylinder gap and no end shake.

Serial number is R612xx Age? Without checking, 1974-75?

I think you got a good deal, Sistema, especially in a Cabela's. I've got one at SN = R217XXX that I have dated to 1978. I lusted for a Model 60 from the first time I heard about them. I saw very few for several years, since fellow LEO's scarfed them up as soon as they hit the ground and I was mostly to broke to pay attention in those years anyway. I finally found a good used copy some years later and was glad to get it at a price a bit higher than you paid for yours. Congratulations, Sir!

Love the model 60. I think you did real well for a pinned-barrel gun. I paid more than that for my no dash 60, and that was several years ago. I also have the Altamonte boot grips on mine. I settled on them after trying several other styles, including factory or factory profile grips with a Tyler. Mine is my daily carry gun, and I feel well-armed.

I mentioned in a post about a month ago that the local Cabelas had a Model 60 in the gun library for $400+. The locking bolt was missing from the barrel lug and someone had used one of those vibro-engravers to scratch what looked like a case number and some initials in the frame. The clerk confirmed that it came from a police trade-in.

I was in there again yesterday and, not surprisingly, the gun was still there, now "reduced" to $369. The bolt is an easy fix, but the etching was pretty deep. I'd say you got a great deal.
Good shootin',
Doug

Very nice! Our local cabelas has been putting the standard $399 tag on quite a few little J Frames. Couple 37, 37 and a 38 past couple months

My 60 no-dash edc - which I swear by - cost a good bit more. Good deal , great carry.

At that price I would have bought all 3 especially with the discount. Last year they were bringing $500-550 around here and you couldn't find one. Things have softened up a bit but you can still get $450-500. You could have sold 2 and had one left for around $200

I have been seeing model 60's at the $399 price point at the Oregon Cabela's stores for several months now. What surprises me is that they still aren't moving quickly at that price

Nice find!

I recently bought a new Model 60 (Performance Center version) and really like it!
I wish the used gun market here in NJ was that good, but I don't ever see those older guns around here. (At least not ones I feel are worth buying.)

I finally found a no dash a few months ago from a forum member and was very pleased with this early, near perfect specimen. They are very sweet!

Our Cabela's typically seems to price these at $600-850.

There are two Model 60, no dashes, 38 Specials, at the Columbus, Ohio Cabela's Gun Library for I believe $369.00 apiece. Good shape, too. One is all original and one has replacement stocks. You can have them shipped to a Cabela's close to you for $25.00.
