What years were the 629 Classic DX offered and in what barrel lengths? What was the accuracy standard and at what range was the gun fired? Was action work routinely performed on the DX and was it done by the Performance Center? Thanks.

The DX was introduced in 1991 as a 629-3 in 6-1/2" and 8-3/8" barrel lengths. The 5" barrel was introduced in 1992 and discontinued after that one year of production, obviously making it much more scarce than the other two. The subsequent engineering changes (-4, -5, etc.) were identical to the standard 629 Classic. The last year of DX production was 2001.

The accuracy requirement was a 1-1/2" group at 50 yards. No documentation of any action work is available in the SCoSW.

What are the differences between the Classic Hunter and the DX?

Basically, Classic Hunters were regular Classics with an unfluted cylinder and a black ramp front sight.
