All 63's are J frames. That mount won't work. If you do find a mount, remember that if you have to alter the gun physically, such as drill and tap, or reshape some metal, you will drastically reduce the value of the gun.

Thanks for confirmation. I just picked it up this weekend. Its beautiful and has a pinned barrel. But it has a bad small nick in the front side of the barrel so its value will always be diminished. I bet it hasn't been shot 50 times.

It sounds like it has been dropped 50 times from the nick you described.
Yes, all 63's are j-frames. I don't think there was ever a mount made for anything "j". What you might want to look into is some sort of modified mount that uses the existing front screw of the rear sight and rear base slot. I remember a while back Brownells had such a thing for K frames, but it involved removing the rear sight assembly. You didn't need to drill & tap anything.

Yes that nick is so small and deep it looks like a point chisel would have been required. It was extreme force/more than a drop I would think. If only guns could tell their stories. I'll check out Brownells. I am going to take it out tomorrow and see if it hits. If its not a shooter I'll be disappointed and it will be gone Thanks for the suggestions
