Model 632 Pro 2"

Well I found out being a retiree has it's benefits!! Buds Policy Supply sold one to me for $569.00 with a military discount. The PX could not come close to that price. Plus I got 500 rounds of ammo. Now the wait starts.

Latest update after a little work and day at the range

I had Teddy Jacobson at Actions by "T" perform a Complete Action Job (reducing the trigger pull from 14 to 8 pounds and jewel and polish the cylinder and chamber. All internals and the hammer are now jeweled. Terrific work, as usual, Teddy.

I shot (10) different types of ammunition in all today. The only available .327 mag I have yet to try is Gold Dot 115 gr. GDHP and I will try it next week.. Best of both Federal's was Hydra Shok, 85 gr. JHP. All (3) Buffalo Bore loads expanded the casings making them difficult to eject.. They are too POTENT for the pistol (Hardcast 130 gr. being the worst). Buffalo Bore .32 H&R, Mag +P, 100 gr. was acceptable.

The most accurate and comfortable to shoot was Black Hills .32 H&R Magnum, 85 gr. This is a great load for the revolver.

Biggest Surprise was DPX ACP, 60 gr., JHP. Very accurate, no kick, on ejection issues.

Most fun to shoot - various .32 ammunition (all MagTech)....
.32 S&WL 98 LRN, .32 S&WL 98 gr. LWC and .32 S&W 85 gr. LRN (short).
Like shooting a .22LR. No Kick, one misfire, kinda smokey, but a good starter rounds for a newcomer.

The botom line: The Model 632-2 Pro Series is one heck of good J-Frame and concealed carry revolver with 6 vs. 5 shots, great sights and the power of the .327 Federal Magnum or .32H&R Magnum. It will be with me or my wife on a regular basis.

Here are some early shots. My first impression is very favorable.
Won't be able to shoot it for a while, but feel and dry fire is worth noting. Trigger pull is smooth and positive at release. The grips surprised me and are secure with three fingers. Easy to conceal and light weight enough for EDC, even in Florida.Great sights. Nice work S&W!

I just wish S&W would offer dovetailed front and rear sights on a 642 or 442, or any other lightweight j capable of shooting .38 Special +P.

It's A Wrap, as they say..

I have now shot about everything I could find.

This revolver is a winner and a lot of fun to shoot.
The best round for carry and most the accurate is the Gold Dot, Federal Magnum, 115 grain, GDHP. I have yet to shoot their 100 grain ammunition, but would likely carry the heavier bullet.

I shot (5) .32 ACP rounds and found all soft shooting, even Buffalo bore. They were: DXP, Gold Dot, Winchester ST, Hornady XTP and Buffalo Bore Hardcast. B.B. and Hornady were extremely accurate and a surprise, as was DPX. Each is a good choice for anyone recoil sensitive.

My wife loves the gun and can shoot it all day with .32 long ammunition. I am not sure I will get to carry the gun after all.

I had every intention on ordering one of these but when I learned of a shop in Indiana blowing out 3" 632s for $479 I couldn't pass at that price. 3 other friends cleaned out all of the 632s this dealer had left. I have a thing for 3" barrels and this 632 is a very impressive revolver. You definately know you're shooting a true magnum with the 327 Gold Dots as you can see in the YouTube video I posted some time ago. I haven't experienced any extraction problems with 327 loads, and while stout they are like shooting +P 38 Specials. I still may get a 2" 632 but for now my 3" really turned me on to the 327 Magnum calibre. I look forward to seeing many more revolvers in this chambering. These are both great revolvers, I just wish the 3" didn't have the LOCK like the Pro 2" Model.

Boy, you have got my mind turning now mag318.
Your price for the 3" is hard to beat. Up until now I have been a 1911 and Sig guy, but I have really enjoyed the Model 632-2.
My wife who is just getting started is comfortable with a revolver and would be happy carrying the 632-2.

GunBlast had a nice review on your pistol when it first came out:
Smith & Wesson Model 632 Carry Comp Pro .327 Federal Magnum Revolver

You have a good video. It tells a real story about the .327 Fed. Mag. cartridge. Many years ago I shot bear and deer with the. 357 and .44 magnums, but the .327 Magnum is a great choice for EDC and a day at the range. The ammunition breadth is far better than the .357/.38 choices. I also hope other manufacturers of ammunition figure this out and get in the game.

fiddlers, there is a glut of 632s on Gunbroker right now with some being priced right. Many of these were made for big distributors who are selling them off at bargain prices.

Thank you. Wallet a bit thin. I have another 1911 on the way, but will watch the Gunbroker.

Hey Oldtexan,
Do you know about the model 640 Pro?
It is the same thing as the 632 that the OP has started this thread about....except it is chambered in .38/.357!
Here is a link: http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/...57768_757767_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y
(hope the link works...i struggle to post pics and past links..)

The 640 Pro is next on my list, and will go fine with my 340 M&P and 66 snubbie!

I've been carrying my 3" 632 in an IWB holster and it has been quite comfortable even though it's slightly heavier than my BG38. The 632 2" would be even better for concealed carry with it's hammer inside the frame. The more I shoot mine the more I really like this chambering. You can practise with 32 Longs or 32 H&R mag loads all day long due to the light recoil. I always end my practise sessions with 12/18 rounds of Speer Gold Dots, my carry round. It's going to be interesting to see if S&W comes out with any other revolvers in this great chambering.

Grips make a difference!

My thanks to Stainz... the grips make a difference for three reasons.
• Appearance
• Improved Grip Control
• Reduced Sticking

I never liked finger indentation on grips. I also, found the stock grips would catch on clothing. These are terrific and at a good price.

PICT3060.jpg

Those 60 pro grips really look good, I'm still waiting for mine to come in. I can't wait to try these.

Yesterday I checked the difference in MV between the 3" and 2-1/8 632s. this is what I came up with using factory ammo six rounds each gun:
Fed American Eagle 100 gr.
3" avg 1462 2-1/8" avg 1376

Fed Hydra-Shok 85 gr.
3" avg 1397 2-1/8 avg 1359

Speer Gold Dot 115 gr.
3" avg 1382 2-1/8 avg 1286

This was done over a 3-4 hour period so the temp changed some. The first time I checked AE 100gr was a year or so ago before I got the 2-1/8 and the average was somewhere around 1525.

Bob

My two sets of back-ordered 60 Pro grips arrived via USPS from S&W last Monday. I no longer have to swap grips for range trips, my two 63's, 651, and 632 Pro each now have their own - as does my 3" 60 Pro! If you didn't get your back-ordered sets last week, I'd give S&W a call. Great value - 'just right', for me, on my 2 1/8" 632 Pro to my 5" 63. Great hand-fit - and they look pretty good, too.

Stainz

PS Thanks, bobf, for the chrono info - I guess the 115gr Gold Dots are a good choice for carry.

Sorry i took so long to respond. Yes, I know about the 640 Pro with the dovetail sights. For me, j-frames are really just pocket-carried backup guns, and an all steel j frame is a bit too heavy for me for that role. I tried using our 649-5 in that role and it was just too much weight with all the other stuff I'm carrying.

So what I'd really like to see is an alloy or scandium 2" j in .38/.357 (or .32 H&R/.327)with those dovetailed sights.

I find the sights on my 642s to be a real handicap at any distance beyond 10-15 yds in terms of accuracy at speed, especially under sub-optimal lighting conditions, even though I've blackened the rear notch and painted the front blade orange.

Certainly... you may ask... but I don't know who makes them for S&W. They are available from S&W (1-800-331-0852) as SKU #411740000 '60 Pro' grips. They were a steal - $42.97 + s/h. Sometimes they are out of stock - and you migh have to wait a few weeks. They are worth the wait. I put a set on my 5" 63, too, early this year. I may just have to 'borrow' them for the new 632... it won't mind - it was a great fit/feel with the square conversion rubber Hogues it wore previously. Besides... I am about to become very poor... but I'll have a new toy! I hope it enjoys my wimpy 96gr LRNFP .32 S&WL loads...

Stainz
Thanks for the info Stainz. Just ordered my pro grips, I will have to wait a few weeks as they are on backorder :)

Stainz is right on. I took his advice and added them to my 632-2. Shot it yesterday and the grips make a difference. I am cleaning the revolver as soon as I send this.
Great Value!

I just ordered two (2) sets of grips for my Pro Series 640 and 632-2. They are expected in about two weeks. Thanks to Papa for the SKU #. I now need to find a couple of good holsters for them; a paddle or snap on and off.:D Any suggestions?

I've had no problem finding ammo for my 632. I've experimented with several different loads and settled on Speer Gold Dot 115 grn for a carry load. I found these from $19.95 to $24.95 for a 20 round box. Most larger stores carry at least some 327 Magnum ammo, and I've found several with a good variety like Big R, Sheels. Gun shows always have some also. This is a very good calibre that I'm sure will grow in popularity as more shooters discover it.

I do know that things are looking up, at least for now. When I got my first .327 back in 2008 there were only three choices for factory ammo, all thru Federal (Speer).

Currently I see that Federal has expanded their .327 Federal Magnum offerings a little and Buffalo Bore is now in the game.

There may be other .327 Fed Mag offerings around but I haven't been checking things out much since I stocked up big time back in 2008.

In spite of the fact that I probably have a lifetime supply of self defense loads I can't resist the Buffalo Bore and am just bideing my time until they come up with all of the choices they will be giving us .327 Mag lovers.....

For those that have put the pro 60 grips on your 632's have they made it possible to use speed loaders.

I was just doing some ammo lookin' and compiled a list of the .327 Federal Mag offerings I came across.
There may be more out there.

Federal American Eagle (2 offerings)
85 gr & 100 gr JSP (jacketed soft point)

Speer Gold Dots (2 offerings)
100 gr & 115 gr JHP (jacketed hollow point)

Federal "Hydra-Shok"
85 gr JHP

Cor-Bon DPX
75 gr Barnes XPB JHP

Buffalo Bore (2 offerings)
100 gr JHP
130 gr Keith Hard Cast (semi-wadcutter)

Below are a couple of other interesting looking choices.

Buffalo Bore - both .32 H&R Magnum +P
100 gr JHP
130 gr Keith Hard Cast (semi-wadcutter)

I've shot the American Eagle 85 grn SP and it's a hot, accurate load. The Speer 115 Gold Dot is even hotter and more accurate and as of now my carry load. I'm looking forward to trying the Corbon DPX and the HydroShoks. The 115 grn Gold Dot expands reliably, penetrating 2 waterjugs and coming to rest in the 3'rd. I'm still waiting for S&W to send me the 60 Pro grips I ordered, but have to admit the original rubber factory grips are comfortable.

While I'm a big fan of Buffalo Bore ammo I'm undecided on what to do. Because the .327 is an "odd-ball" round I stocked up early on (back in '08) and have 200 rd's of the 115 gr Speer Gold Dots & 100 of the Hydra-Shok's on hand so I'm trying to decide if I want to continue on with those, which isn't a problem, or make the switch to Buffalo Bore?

If I do make the switch at least I'll have a decent supply of good ammo if the .327 falls by the way-side and is hard to get someday. With three .327's in the house, down from four, more is better.

I won't even mention how many of the American Eagle JSP's I have hanging around.

Ogy, you can never have to much ammo. I hope this great round grows in popularity and doesn't fade from the scene. I think I'll start stocking some just to be safe.

S&W quietly pulled the 632-2

It appears the revolver was discontinued and malfunctions/defects are quietly handle individually by complaint.
