After buying my 36-1, I still had an itch for a snubby, and I like the external hammer models best. I had been watching for another model 36 or similar in a 1 7/8" barrel, but they were all too much money or not found locally, so I saw a 637 barely fired for $299 with original hard case, I jumped on it. Maybe it was a good deal, maybe not, but here in Mass, thats about average. A charter Arms undercover brings $225-275, so for an extra $25 to get a Smith? I think it's worth it.

It was all stock when I got it with the Uncle Mikes boot grips, and while I liked the grips, I wanted something a little narrower, but still comfortable, and I like the classic look - so here is what I came up with:

its a cheap simulated Ivory (but made from plastic) grip, and a tyler T-grip. I got them from Robertsons trading post for somewhere around $52 shipped. I really like how controllable it is, and how it feels, the jury is still out on if I love it's look or not, but I definitely like it. I have only put .38 special thtough it, no +P (mainly because my 36 is non +P rated so I only buy what I can shoot in both)
I think I am as accurate or better with this at 10 yards as I am with the 36, and with my LC9S Ruger. If I take my time, I can get 3-4 out of 5 in a 4" circle at 25-30 feet. It's not great, but I am not a marksman.
I really enjoy shooting this little guy though, and even though I know people claim a 38 snubbie is not for repeated range practice, I use it every time I go out, and even up to 50 yards, I am OK with it. I can hit a 12" target at 50 yards with it - not very accurate, but still not too bad
