Model 64 no dash

Picked up a used Model 64 no dash today at the local gunshop, $279 + tax..police dept gun, looks to have been carried a bit, shot less..Tapered barrel gun, not the heavy barrel version..

the model 64 is one of my favorites. if its in decent shape, $279 is a very good price for a tapered barrel. when you get a chance, post some pictures of your .38 special revolver.

One of my favorites. I paid $300 for mine and have seen them go for more than that. I think they only made the tapered barrel for a year or so.

The 64 no dash is a fine revolver, and they seem to bring a premium vs the later bull barreled versions. I searched around for few years until I finally stumbled across one that I could afford. I was seeing the tapered barrel no dashes priced from $500-$850 and there was just no way they are worth that, at least not to me they're not. I had pretty much given up on the 64 no dash quest, then one day about 6 months ago while looking for a Centennial flat latch I saw one buried in a display, she was covered in years of crud, but the action was tight, the grips number to the gun, and there was a box and papers. Tagged at $350 OTD I almost forgot to offer $300, we settled on $325 and I quickly dropped Centennial search and bought the 64. I took it home, gave it a bath inside and out and now it looks like new. It shoots right to point of aim at 25 feet with 148 WCs and 158 SWCs.

Ya done good, I would buy as many $280 64 no dashes as I could.

I have about the same story, found one at a gunshow that nobody wanted. They ain't got a place to hang a laser sight off of and they don't hold 15 rounds.... the seller skinned me for 300 bucks.

I had a set of those old diamond grips that I put on it, they're not "correct" but I like the look.

Congratulations on the no-dash! They're perfectly stunning. I'm not a fan of the fat barrels, btw.

At what range did you shoot those targets?

I've shot some at 25 yards that had all six holes touching, but used the regular (larger) bullseye. At that distance, the front sight might cover the little orange bull you used.

The targets were shot from 25 feet away off hand, the load is my standard brew of a 148 grain WC over 3.1 grains of Bullseye and CCI pimer. I'm pretty sure they were done SA as my DA shooting is mediocre at best.
