I have a model 645 .45 ACP which I love and have fired many rounds through over the years. It went back to S & W in the late 90's after the barrel bushing went flying off. S & W replaced several parts on it and it has been fine ever since. I've noticed in looking through the bore that the lands appear to have been worn down, meaning the grooves are NOT deep. It still shoots well, and all of the bullets make round holes in the paper targets. Does anyone else feel that the lands are worn down on their 645? Smith says that they no longer service the Model 645.

If it shoots well there is nothing wrong with the rifling

Smith & Wesson uses several different methods of rifling some of which look shallow.

It only takes a few thousandths of an inch to engage the projectile and impart spin

Worry about it if it starts shooting poorly
