Model 65- 3 inch

One of the most sought-after CCW guns ever made. Mine will never leave! It was rough when I got it as a used PD trade-in, but mechanically it was perfect, the scuffs and scrapes don't bother me at all. I wish it could talk, I bet it could tell some great stories!

Seen here below a 3" 696............that I'm still trying to get away from the current owner. Negotiations continue!

Fine shooting revolver - carried one for years as a plain clothes LEO

Yeah, they made them............but

I hit much better, which ain't all that great, with my 4". Carried in an Alessi belt slide it conceals just fine. Around the farm I use a Bianchi 5BH. I love the look of 3" revolvers though. I like my 37 with the 1 7/8" even better.:p
Peace,
Gordon

The Ladysmith stocks aren't "correct" for this one, but I like 'em. :)

Just took my 3" 65 out to the range yesterday. I forgot how accurate it was, even with my less than superb marksman skills. I picked it up used a while back, and though it's not a mint safe queen, it is as fine a utilitarian revolver as I've owned. The low profile fixed sight is ideal for CCW, and it conceals well with the 3" tube. Shooting 158 grain .38s could be an all day affair with minimal recoil.

Yes, and the 3 inch round butt 65 is one of the most useful revolvers ever built by S&W. It is the stainless equivalent of the final revolver adopted by the FBI before they went to the Glock .40 S&W caliber. That final FBI revolver was the 3 inch round butt Model 13. The 3 inch round butt K frame has the full length ejector rod for positive ejection, yet conceals well. The barrel and sight radius is long enough to make distance shots.

Did the lady smith 3'incher's have lady smith written on the barrel?

A 3" 65 is what I usually shoot in IDPA matches these days. Can't run as many shots as fast as I can with a Glock, but I'm more accurate with it. And they don't mind if I pick up my brass after each stage. It's my basement gun (that's where my desk and work areas are) when it's not on the way to or from a match. It is an absolutely fabulous tool, and my favorite S&W to shoot.

Is the 13 and the 65 basically the same gun?

They sure are. The only difference between the two would be the materials they're made from.

M13 - Carbon Steel, Case Hardened Hammer/Trigger
M65 - Stainless Steel, Flash Chromed Hammer/Trigger

Looked at a 65-3 at a local shop today, clean, no box and what appear to be the original grips, $549.00 out the door, deal or no deal?
