I am talking with a guy that claims to have a model 657, 8.75 inch, Performance Center 41 Rem Mag pistol for sale. I have never heard of such an animal and my searches for such have come up empty. If true then I desperately want this pistol for deer hunting. Can any of you enlighten me please?

It might be a 657-5 with a 8.375 inch barrel. I think there were approximately 150 made in 2004.

Here's mine, can't tell you much about it other than that it came with the aluminum Performance Center box. No idea if the 150 manufactured number is correct or not but its the only one I've ever come across. Came with a couple different front sights as well as a weaver type base for scope mounting.

I have been trying to get this guy to call me but to no avail. Been looking for one of these for a looong time. First revolver I ever shot was a model 57, when I was 7 and it left a lasting impression, and knocked me on my rear.

I think at the time S&W's advertising (or maybe it was Davidson's) called the product code 170235 the HUNTER.
