I just picked up a virtually perfect 66-2 .357 Combat Magnum, 6" barrel with original walnut grips; looks like the checkering was cut yesterday.

Question: From what I can tell, the vintage appears post 1982; pre- 1986; cannot tell from use, it looks like there hasn't been a box of ammo put through it, frame is without wear marks; riflng is flawless. Was this a good sidearm? Reviews/comments?

Am I nuts to want to modify it to a 3-dot sight set up (I'm 57 and can see the the 3-dot so much better)? Should I revere or just use heck out of it and carry on motorcycle trips?

I'm new to the forum and product -- Would value any insights.

The mod. 66 is wonderful gun but not rare. I would say make your own and try to shoot it to death. My 66-1 is box stock and I love it that way but I would mod. it if it fit my needs.

The 66-2 is one fine carry revolver and deserves to be shot regularly. There really isn't a current production revolver in the same size and weight class. I haven't modified my 66-2, four inch with target trigger, hammer and grips, however it does see fairly regular trips to the range. Make the gun yours and enjoy it!
