Model 66-3 value?

He buys a new Henry and he still has his 66........... worth $600....or trades the 66 for $400 toward the Henry.

He's looking at $719+tax ( in Pa that's 7%) ...... for a new Henry; that's $770.

so he can trade the 66 +$370 for a new Henry.................

IMHO used guns start at -$100 from new so lets say.......... $660 max for your used Henry.

He wants you into the deal for ($600-650 + 150) between $750- $800 for a 4" 66.

IMHO it's an even swap on $$s....... we are back to.... do you want to shell out $110 to $140 for a 4" 66.

Bottom line Henry+ $150 cash out of pocket... for a 4" 66...... how bad do you want/need it........if I didn't have one .....maybe.

How much do you have in the Henry?...less than $770?? ...... add $150 and that's what you will have in the 66

Thanks for breaking it down. I want a pre-lock Smith .357. I have a 1969 Model 15-3 and really fell in love with it. Something about how that K-Frame fits your hand. Henry I don't shoot much but lately I became a pistol shooter.

I'd say it's closer to a straight trade just for the sake of convenience. The Henry and the model 66 are both legendary. But both guns are also used, no matter what kind of condition they're in. Plus, 4" inch -2 and -3 model 66s are still not that uncommon. I paid just under 700 bucks for a -2 in excellent condition a couple years ago and don't regret it one bit. But someone looking to trade should be more flexible. Sure he could go buy a new Henry, but he'd have to fill out the paperwork on a new purchase and he probably doesn't want to have to do that. Plus, he obviously wants to get rid of the revolver. You have more leverage in this negotiation than you think. And if he doesn't budge, wait a month or two: The right model 66 will cross your path. If you're looking for a shooter, a box is nice, but hardly necessary.

IMHO the Henry +$100 is more than a fair offer..........
I'd drop him an polite email with your contact info .......let him know the offer is still on the table (if it is) and for him to feel free to contact you if he changes his mind.

If he's so inflexible, let him keep his 66-3 and buy a new Henry. It might be frustrating for you now, but you will find the right pre-IL model 66 at a better price soon enough.

The Henry was on sale last week at Cabella's. My neighbor bought the Yellow Boy, .38/.357 for $700. The blue version was less expensive. Should give you an idea of value.

Yeah I bought mine a little north of 700. Told him the highest I'll go is Henry + 100 dollars, if he can't do that, I think I'm getting hosed. Its a nice Model 66-3 just feel like he is getting the better deal in the end.

If it's any consolation, I paid $500 for an excellent 66-3 last year. Wood targets dated to the gun, no box or accessories.

If the Henry goes for $700 new as I've read here, I'd be asking $100 boot from him, unless that 66 is ANIB.

While I'll never understand the "trading" of firearms (I've never done it and can't imagine ever doing it), but from I see of the deal offered, he should owe you money.
