Model 66 at the range

I took my new model 66-1 to the range this morning. Last night I loaded up 50 rounds of 158 gr Jacketed HP,and 6.4 gr of Unique. Thats 887 fps.

This 66 is loaded with extras. Trigger, Hammer, sights, red ramp front, White outline back, 6 inch barrel and target grips.

At 15 yrds, I was hitting to the left some, so a rear sight adjustment was made.Bingo, right in the center. I shoot one handed, and I cocked the gun for each shot. 4 to 5 inch groups. Shooting double action the trigger pull is not good and my groups were 6 to 8 inches.

I love the feel of this hand gun. It is top quality all of the way. I don't know why they are not more valuable. I paid $325 and it is also pinned and recessed.It's like new with no box. It's a pawn shop gun. Not a scratch, or blemish, not a scratch on the grips,and it shoots great. Great deal for a 40 year old gun.

I agree. The model 66 is one of the finest revolvers Smith has ever produced in stainless. I've put thousands of rounds through my 4" bbl 66 (no dash). The rage today seems to be the 686 in .357. Although I like my 686, it has the heft of a cannon. The 686 is just too damn big in my lowly opinion.
