I have a model 66 revolver I got in 1988 in Houston Texas.

It is a .357mag 4" Stainless steel #7k72xxx. Great shooter, sat in a safe for over 15 years.

Any info would be nice

Thanks
Chuck

That is awesome! it is older than I thought. I bought it from a guy in Houston for $200. Just had the trigger worked on, due to a super light trigger pull.

It shoots really nice. use it to practice smooth trigger pull, by putting in a mix of empty, .38special, and .357 magnum ammo in it.
Thanks again

The model 66 is a great gun. Carried one for many years in law enforcement. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do.

Way back when ... since we couldn't get them on the open market, I got mine through a departmental order, most of us bought the 4"inch and a few got both a 2 1/2 inch and 4 inch. The wood grips got 'sanded' by our seat belts in the Nova Patrol cars so a lot of us switched to Pacmeyers. I seem to recall one or two buying the 6 inch. Fine guns, even today it's my go-to gun.

Model 66s have a cult following. Your gun is probably worth at least triple what you paid for it, if not more.

7K72xxx is very close to when they added the red insert to the front sight and switched to the blackened rear sight, also close to when they moved the gas ring to the yoke.

I suspect yours has the red ramp, black rear sight, and the gas ring is on the yoke but with S&W...:) Can you tell us how yours is?

Red front sight, black adjustable rear sight. Super accurate. It came with Pacmyr rubber target grips. I put on Pacmyr rubber fingered grips. Bought it in 88, for $200. Have had it in a safe for atleast 20years, just pulled it back out to shoot. Question-is it stainless steel or nickel?

thanks for the replies!
