Hi all
I have just acquired a model 67-1 4" ser# AHY71**. Grips are not #'d to gun but at least are wood! Has DPR on left side of frame. Appears in very good to excellent to my untrained eye. Locks up tight with no fore-aft play. b-c gap is .005 all the way around. Interestingly the rear sight is cranked all the way to right. Will leave it until I shoot it tomorrow to see what gives. Gave a good washing and light oiling. Shooting 158gr jckd and 130gr jckd. Look forward to tomorrow. Hope to have some photos then too. No matter what I try I always seem to end up with a K frame. :)

Nice gun! But you may wish to rethink using 158 grain jacketed ammo in .38 Special. The friction from the jacket slows it down, and you'd get better velocity from lead bullets.

The better 125-135 grain JHP's are another matter, being Plus P and with bullets that may well expand in animal tissue. If you hope for any expansion in 158 grain lead bullets, go with the Plus P HP's.

The exception might be if you have to carry a .38 where you may need very deep penetration on large animals. Then, the Plus P lead SWC might well suffice, if very well placed.

The 67-1 is a very nice revolver. Here's one I sat down with in front of the TV with an old t-shirt and some mag polish, and then installed some sweet wood. Nice shootin' gun. Here's the results, good luck with yours, Shoo

Hi All,
Texas Star: Thank you for the thoughts on the cartridges. At the moment I have a few of the old Fed. 158gr swchp nyclad. that I am saving for my carry option. The 67 will be my primary HD weapon. The secondary cartridge is the Aguila 158gr sjhp. They are suppose to be 900fps/278fpe from a 6" barrel. Comfortable to shoot and accurate in all .38's I have used them in. Also fairly clean and moderately low flash. Understand about lead though. Have used them in the past and expect to start reloading soon, so may restart.
shooboy: I don't know which is prettier the model 67 or the picture of it. Both are outstanding. Would like to get mine near that sheen.
By the way, what does "DPR" stand for on the left side of the frame. Figure is some LE organization. And can someone give me an idea when it was made. Thanks again.
