Model 67 Yolo

I want to thank everyone for all the response. I will definitely be looking into some of those suggestions on the holsters. I got out yesterday for a short range trip and all I can say is I couldn't be any happier with this revolver.I have three model 15 Smiths but this 67 has become my a prize possession. I have a question the rear sight blade is slightly dinged. Does any know where I might be able to get a stainless blade and screw?

I picked this 64-3 up at a local auction for $275. I has A. P. D. stamped on it. The cartridges don't seem to care so neither do I. It is perfect for boat trips.

I just picked up a Yolo County S&W 67 down here in Florida. Mine is #55, maybe a little younger than the OP's.lol

Very cool gun, sold to me by a very nice guy, I think he's on the forum here. Thanks Bob!

I think the SD engraving looks great. The M-64 I was first issued in 1977 was stamped along the backstrap and was quite obviously done one letter at a time, with a hammer, and in a hurry. The letters and numerals were all over the place. Yours is professional-looking.

I was thinking how neat it would be to reunite one of these service pistols to the officer it was issued to way back when. If he'd have any interest that is, or was still vertical.lol

Model 67s should have been a much bigger yfactor in the law enforcement market than they actually were. As far as stainless duty revolvers go, there are a lot of 64s,65s,& 66s that were issued by agencies all over the country. The 67 never got its' due. The only one I have is marked "G.P.S.D." and letters to the Georgia Power Security Department in 1974.

Doubt you'll be able to locate a stainless blade & screw. Probably have to make them by removing the bluing fronm a replacement with a wire brush. May not be stainless, but will match. If the notch on yours is okay, I'd leave it alone. By the way, if you don't mind, what did you end up paying for it?

YOLO, is what made read the post. I thought that may have been a rare special edition or something! It's COOL! My 67 is a 1973 vintage. I don't shoot it a lot, but would not get rid of it. I do have target grips for it, but currently wearing modified Herretts. Bob

I have YOLO County Model 67 #170, 18KXXXX from 1977, so looks like that agency continued to acquire them for a while. I chatted with a guy a couple of months ago at a gun show who mentioned he was a retired LEO from Sacramento. I said, "Oh, you were just east of Yolo County!" He gave me kind of a funny look...

I think nice dept stamps add value and history to a revolver that has been a working gun. It's only the erratic DIY stamps that detract.
