Well, the 67 has a twin in the model 15 except its blue, not stainless. The K38 or later version model 14 is considered the premier 38 target revolver. They usually come in 6 or 8 & 3/8 narrel. Barrels are a little heavier.

Your Model 67 is a wonderful target and defense revolver.

Like it's brother, the Model 15 Combat Masterpiece, it is well balanced, reliable and can shoot all ranges of .38 special ammunition including +P defensive rounds.

The 67 was a favorite of law enforcement and security agencies due to it's durable stainless steel construction and accuracy. The 4 inch barrel is accurate out to 50 yards and beyond dependant on the skill of the shooter.

There are tons of accesories available for it, from grips to fit any size hand to speedloaders and holsters.

With reasonable care and feeding it will outlive you....:D
You made a good choice.

The Mod 67 is nice target gun. If you want to stay with the K frame and like its weight you can also get the Mod 66 which is a 357 mag but will shoot the 38 spl. The Mod 64 is also a good stainless K frame gun if you want the fixed sights. There is a lot to choose from, keep looking around.

I just taught a "Ladies Beginning Handgun" class today, and took a variety of handguns for the students to handle and critique. We came up with a list of desirable features, and if you put them all together, you'd have a Model 67. Here's the list of features we compiled.

Made by S&W :)
Stainless Steel
38 Special, +P capable
Round Butt grip frame
Adjustable Sights
Smooth Combat Trigger
3-4 inch Barrel
Pre-Lock Design

I've been looking for an M-67 for several years, and have told myself that when I find one, unless the price is twice what it should be, I'm BUYING it!

Tina444...did your gun come with the original box? That 1972 date was the 1st year the M67 was produced. Does it have black or stainless steel rear sight? SS came out 1st then they quickly switched the rear sight to black as it was hard to pick up the front sight with the s/s front. They are great revolvers. If your rear sight i stainless then it is an early production gun. It doesn't add much if any value.. just nice history to know.

67 no dash pics...

Enjoy the piece as they don't make them like this anymore.

mike , thank you for that info. my rear sight is black. and every one is right the more i shoot my gun , the more i know i made the right choose for target shooting. thank you all ( sorry cant do pic yet) tina

I own both 15 and 67. Both from late 70's. Would never part with them
I like them so much that I had to get a 4 inch model 48 and model 15 to keep them company.

Tina congrats on your new Model 67,
Like the guys have said it is a stainless version of the blued model 15.
The Magnum SS version is the Model 66 and has a slightly heavier barrel.

The early guns are unique in that they had a SS rear site ,
many were swapped out because the SS front and rear sites had no contrast and were a bit difficult to see.
Here is a comparison of the two versions.

Here is another pic showing an early 67 with a later 67-1 with red ramp insert.

The grips are called "Magnas" but any square butt K or L frame grips will work if you want something different like target grips , combats or fancy presentations.

Tina, you made a wise choice. Besides being a classic revolver, with a little TLC it will last a lifetime, probably several. The Model 67 is a very practical revolver for just about any application and the older ones are actually collectable now, enjoy yours.
