I found this nice 686 no dash in a local Pawn Shop. I almost flipped when I saw the price. $350 OTD. SN...ACK 46XX. It's really an early 686. I suppose 1n the early 1980's???????
There is no "M" stamp, and no box, or it would go as a NIB weapon. It's gorgeous.

There is a C23 stamped on the crane, and a large "S". does any one know the meaning of them??? I think the "S" goes for Stainless, but the C23 puzzles me. The rear sight is not the stainless type, and the front sight is a removable post. There are a set of replacement grips on it which I shall change on Saturday at the PHOENIX GUN SHOW.

Neat early M686, love the patridge front sight.
You might want to check with S&W about the M modification, it's free and they pay the shipping.

Cool revolver, congrats on a great find at an equally great price.

Man you are so lucky, that is the exact gun I would like to have, and for that kind of money you practically stole it!
