Model 69 combat magnum

My 4" 69 is very accurate and after a lighter rebound spring has a good DA trigger. My only issue is the stock grip is small but that is easily changed.

My Model 69 with 2.75" barrel came in today. Picked it up and headed to the range (outdoor). Very cold and very windy so I did not stay long. Shot a total of 50 rounds. Two different hand loaded 240gr bullets and different powders. One of them is not bad to shoot. The other is a handful. (It was loaded for a Super Red Hawk with 7.5" barrel and is a hand full in that gun. Most was .44 special 200gr hand loads which are very easy on both the gun and the shooter. Hopefully I will get a warmer and less windy day soon so I can spend more time with this gun.
So far, it looks like a winner.

Put some better grips on it for serious range time. I like the Pachmayr Diamond Pros.

Glad you're liking it so far.

The one I have is an unusually good shooter.

Moderate .44 Special Load 25 Yds rested

A bit more powerful .44 special level load - 25 yds rested:

My carry load - full power .44 Magnum load - 50 yds rested:

25 yds off hand (different bullet than carry load) -- I certainly can't do this on demand, but the little gun is up to the task:

I'm partial to the S&W 500 X Frame Hogue grips.

FWIW,

Paul

I did put a set of those Pachmayer diamond grips on my gun. They do absorb recoil with full magnum loads much better than the stock grips. I did re-install the stock grips yesterday. I will be shooting (mostly) low end of magnum loads, so the stock grips will work for me and I do like them better. I am still "load testing" to find the best powder/bullet/load combo for me. It is a slow process this time of the year due to extreme cold temps at the range. I do not stay out more then 10 or 15 minutes at a time. Temps around 20 degrees with wind chills in the lower teens, but it is still fun.

The trick with the M-69 is to get a set of grips that FIT your hand.
Paul 105 I have a bump at the base of my thumb due to bad
fitting grips on a magnum.
Pachmeyr is my best grip [the small thin ones] then the x-frame and
last Hogue [ only light kickers]
