I recently purchased a like new SW 6906, dont have the original box, so I cant get the product code, to know when was made.-
Other thing different is, it has, two 10 rounds magazines ??
Serial number: KLF 202X I would appreciate any information or coments about magazine capacity.- Thanks

10rd mags ........ in the USA are indicative of a gun made between 1994-2004 ....... during our "Assault Weapons Ban"

Before and after they shipped with 12 rd magazines..... except for several US states that have their own magazine limits...............

any clue where to get 12 rd magazines ??

Looks like you're in Uruguay. In the US, I'd just keep an eye on Ebay, Gunbroker and places like that.

You'll pay a little more for those 6906 mags. You can use 5906 mags. They protrude a little unless you can find the adapters that fill the gap and make it look a little better. The 5906 mags give you 14 or 15 rounds.

Uruguay not a clue

No idea if anyone will export to you.....................................

Strange the SCS&W does not show any Serial #s with the "KLF" prefix.....could it be a special run for your Police or military????

Yes ¡ Im in URUGUAY. The pistol dont have any LE marks. Anyway Im not sure it was a Police o Army Issue.- That serial Nº when do you think aprox was made the pistol ?? I would browse on E-bay, maybe with a little luck, I can get a 12 rounds mag.- Thanks in advance.- Here the 5906 is a very expensive model and scarce for the same reason, dont believe to get a chance of a 5906 mag ¡¡

As stated above.... the SCS&W doesn't show any serial #s with that prefix....1984 until 1994 they all start with a.......... "T".......1994 #s go to VAMxxxx. The 6906 was made from 1988-1999

don't have a clue..... maybe contact S&W?

You re getting me more curious BAM-BAM ¡ I have a ghost serial number ?
I agree...I would need to ask S&W surely.- Or maybe KLF belongs to other model ?? Is my first semi-auto S&W brand.- Always buying S&W revolvers ¡....Thanks for your advice "Stevewins"

I think eBay has a 10 round limit, not that everyone abides by it.
Actually, I think they're pretty strict about it. :o Too bad too because the OP would probably have better luck on eBay in his situation than some of the other alternatives.

SCS&W (page 401) states that S&W has a separate list for "modern autoloading pistols" serial #s.

No reference to exports or special gov. runs........ but for example Smith made a 686-5 revolver which wasn't a .357..... the -5 was a .38 special built for export

That said Performance Center guns use different letter prefixes.....guns with 6906s frames include........... VPC,SDB, PCV

In my experience, SCSW is only "close" on modern serial numbers. A call to S&W is probably the best answer...which might be cost prohibitive for the OP. If OP wants to PM me his full s/n or just the X, I'd be willing to give them a ring and see if any info is available.

Yes BAM-BAM ¡ The 686-5 revolver for sure one country who order it was Brazil, in that country the .357 mag caliber is forbidden to ordinary people.
Lucky in Uruguay we dont have this problem. I often enjoy my 686-4 ¡¡
The SCSW says "special order" to the model 6906 with 10 rd mag ...Im right ??

Looks like there was a " Dealer Special" in 1998 with 10 round mags........

But any sold into the "civilian" market between 1994 -2004 would have to have shipped with 10rd magazines.........mine all pre date 94 or were picked up used (after 2004) at a Police Supply house.......

Long time ago..... but I'm thinking I didn't see many if any hi-cap in LGSs during those years....... IIRC extra hi-cap magazines were going for $75-125...if you could find them.... and if you had a hi-cap gun and magazines you held on to it or them.

The 915 went out of production and was replaced by the 910 ....ya you guessed it.... with 10 round magazines.

These years were big for the Shorty .40s as they only lost one round; from 11 to 10 in the magazine vs the 9mm 6906 which went from 12 to 10.

That said....... I believe all my PC 9mm's which I bought between 94 and 2004 came with 12 and 15 round PC marked magazines..........including my IDPA5906 from 1997 which shipped with one 10 round (IDPA max) and one 15 round magazine (per the SCS&W p. 370)
