Don't think this belongs here but maybe the monitor will place it correctly....
Just got a Model 78G Co2 Air pistol at the gun show this AM.
New in the box w/ALL #G1429XX
All the seals are good and the pistol is dead nuts at 25 yards.
Used one of the original gas cylinders to test as I don't know if getting the proper size cartridge will be a problem.
Can anyone tell me anything about the history of these guns?
Any idea as to value??

I can only comment on prices in Australia, here they sell for around $100 ~ $150, well they list at that price anyway and stay on the shelf. I bought my 79G (.177) for $30 a few years ago, in box near new.
I cannot get the correct cylinders and use the small soda bottles: I cut about an inch off the bottom of one to use as a spacer.
There is some info in the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" page 371.
Cheers.

Mint and working. ..

Around $200
To bad you popped one of the old blue S&W cylinders, those have not been around since the late 70's...the 12gram ones you find at almost any sporting goods store will work and are the same.

There are a couple variations of this gun. One with adjustable trigger.
Also, is it with a box of 5 co2's and a tin of pellets. .. or just a plastic bag with two co2's and some pellets?
