How well does it work to take the complete top end off a Model 915 and put it on a Model 6906? I have one of both pistols, but I find the longer slide of the 915 easier to shoot accurately. Tried swapping top ends at the bench and there don't seem to be any problems with swapping them around. Before actually shooting, wanted to hear from someone that has done this. Thank you.

I seem to remember trying this years ago with a 5900 series slide/barrel on a 6900 series frame. As I recall, it did not work. I can't remember why. It might ha e been an incompatability issue with the unlocking surfaces.

My 915 and 5903 seem to mate up fine. I have NOT fired them this way, however.

I've been bouncing around an idea to swap out the top end of my 469 with a DAO stainless top end of a 6946 I have and getting a replacement hammer and grinding off the SA notch to make it DAO. The top ends does fit and it works with a snap cap, but I haven't attempted shooting it that way yet.

It would make for a very different looking hybrid that's for sure.

Sounds like any of these combinations will work and some are different looking in a good way. Looked at the lock up on both top ends closely yesterday evening. Everything appears identical except the barrel and guide rod lengths. The slidestop cross pins are the same diameter. As smoothly as it all fits together, I going to try firing my combinations this weekend.
