So do you think that the 952 would use a 14 lb recoil spring for the 4506 (Wolff 47314) since no 13 lb spring is listed?
.
Would the 945 also use the same type of recoil spring as the 4506 (according to Kp321 this would be the 14 lb spring for wadcutters and the 18 lb spring for the 230 gr FMJ load)?
I'd suspect with commercial 9x19 ammo that would a good one to start with in the 952.
.
I don't have a 945 but I found this picture (embedded below) of one disassembled on the internet.
Smith and Wesson 945 Redux - SWAT Survival | Weapons | Tactics
Externally their slides always looked typical S&W 3rd Gen & this picture shows the innards (barrel, guide rod, recoil spring) are typical 3rd Gen also.
I do have a 845 & a 4506.
When I gave the 845 a spring refresh, after I bought it, I put a Wolff 18# (#47318) in it, which is the normal ball ammo 4506 recoil spring.
Yes, the 14# recoil spring is the wadcutter recoil spring. Use it only for light loads.
The 18# should be fine for any standard power or SAAMI (+P) power 45ACP ammo.
I have a 20# in my 4506 & 4588 but I occasionally shoot 45 Super in them.
.
PS: In fully reading the article above it said this in it about the 945 recoil spring:
"
The 945 comes with two recoil springs. A 14-pound spring is installed for ball and duty ammunition, and a 12-pound spring is available for wadcutter and match loads. This is interesting, because standard weight recoil springs for the 1911 range from 16 to 18.5 pounds. Slide weight differences may be a factor."
