I bought a model 986, (2.5 inch bbl), about one year ago and very much like it. The wood grips that came with it are very nice but their thinness gave my hand a lot of pain and I wound up putting a set of extra Pach rubbers from my cellar on it and it solves the pain problem. Now the looks are beginning to drive me nuts and I would really like a wood set. Have any of you used wood grips on your round butt K/L frames with hot loads that do not kill your hand? Any leads would be much appreciated. A friend is currently sending me a set of Herrett Shooting Stars if he can find them in his basement. Maybe they will work but any advice is most welcome.
