Can anyone possibly tell me about this gun? I've recently acquired it and haven't found anyone who's seen one before. It is similar to a Mauser action, nice checkered stock that runs the full length of the stock. I told it's called a manlicher or curio stock.

I have one in 30-06, it also is a husqvarna produced gun. I think mine is an E as well. Found mine used, dont think a scope has been on it. I posted a pic of it awhile ago in this section of the forum.

The S&W Rifle catalogs for early 1970s show two rifles with the full length stocks. They were the Model D and Model E. Calibers shown in the catalogs were .270, .30-06,. 308. & 243. They were Husqvarnas made in Sweden for S&W. The Model D had " Full Length" stocks and the Model E had " Monte Carlo " stocks, in some of the catalogs, and other catalogs called both Models as having " Full Length Mannlicher style sporting stocks." The difference was the Model E had the Monte Carlo type stock with the cheek piece and the Model D had a straight style butt stock. I've had examples of both Model D & Es in European calibers, like 7x57, etc., and factory historical letters for same said they were made for sales in Europe in the Post Exchange stores of American Military bases. Ed.
