Modern Custom 32-20

The following gun appeard on gunbroker. The seller lives close to me and I asked if I could come see the gun before I bid on it. The gun is very well put together (I know the smith that did the work). The seller had a .22lr cylinder drilled to accept the 32-20. Below is his description. Ther were no bids on gunbroker so I bought the gun, can't wait to shoot it.

Custom S&W K-frame revolver assembled by S&W factory trained and authorized gunsmith. Custom 32/20 caliber six shot cylinder. Model 15-5 receiver / frame. Model 16-4 four inch full underlug barrel marked 32 Magnum. Case color tool steel semi-target (3/8" wide) hammer and smooth combat (5/16" wide) trigger. Bluing is very good. Uncle Mike's checkered rubber combat grips. Black post Patridge target front sight and usual S&W adjustable rear sight with plain black blade.

From the pics it looks really nice! Probably not something for the purists in the group but for those that like nifty stuff, this looks, well, nifty! Bet it is fun to shoot. With the extra weight out front it ought to be well mannered. I bet that it does have a healthy bark. I'm thinkin that some type of fancy stocks are in order for show. Goodyears are great for shooting, and all my shootin guns have'm, but something fancy would sure make for an even greater looker.

I have a Model 16-4 that I sent to Hamilton Bowen and had him make a .32-20 cylinder for it. It shoots great, but point of impact was high even with the rear sight bottomed out, so I put on a lower rear sight blade and am waiting for the weather to warm up to see if it now shoots lower. I use a 6 o'clock hold and load a 115 grain gas check swc in front of 5.0 grains of Unique.

A gun like this may be my next project. I have a 4" 32 mag bbl also and a 17 cyl. All I need is the gun to put it on and the cyl re-chambered. May do it in 327 but not sure yet. Nice gun, definitely let us know how it shoots. Larry
