Anyone have any idea if S&w will rerelease these? I called the customer service and they made it sound like they haven’t made them since the 1800s. I tried to explain they made a run I the last 30 years or so. Not sure when they did but I definitely want one made my them and not a clone. Seems like it would be a great market with cowboy action shooting as well as modern revolver fans.

They were the Model 2000 and were not made for long. They were pretty pricey and I didn’t see a lot of them in use for CAS matches. Many more of the Uberti versions. The S&W was chambered for the original cartridge. While that’s cool, it probably hurt its popularity. The Uberti guns are available in 45 Colt. Also the S&W had a frame mounted firing pin, not true to the original. They were very well made guns and were quite accurate. One was recently listed for sale here in the classifieds but has been withdrawn.

Will they be manufactured again? Highly unlikely. CAS is not nearly as popular as it was when these guns were introduced. The game centers more around speed and less about using authentic type firearms. The Schofield can’t compete with a Colt or Ruger with a “short stroke” kit.

They made them in 2000. Uberti schofield clones are available and are well made. I have 2 that I occasionally shoot cowboynaction in.

I saw a Uberti Schofield once in a store. It was beautiful but rather large. A k frame size schofield in 32 H&R mag or 38 special would really be cool.

About 2000 a LGS had one of those that I had finally decided to buy against my better judgement. When I entered the store on a Saturday a man was carrying the gun out the front door! All I said to him was "Thank you"!! He had removed the temptation. I just wanted it, but had no need. I have never seen another.
