Modified Cut down 25-2

If it hasn't been suggested, there was a New York company name Jovina or Jovino that did that type of modification. Another mod was a cutting away of the the trigger guard (Fitzgerald trigger)

I like everything about that blaster. I love to "mortify" my guns. I could care less what the next person likes. Go shoot that monster NOW!

I agree. I round butted a M25-5 and a M24-3, both 4"ers. Sold both for what I was asking. I managed to buy back the M25-5 about 10 years ago. I won't sell it again. :)

Today my son and I went out and put 400 rounds through it without any failures and I couldn't be happier, this thing is a tack driver. We used 5 different brands of ammo even steel cased Tula. We did change the grips though, to some easy on the hand targets I had stored away. Here is a pic with the new grips.

nice gun Riley. I have a 25-2 with bobbed hammer and lightened main spring and it's a bit picky on ammo but it likes remington. I have the rubber Hogue monogrips and I like them very well. they fit my big hands really nice

Thanks 1955joe! So far I been very fortunate all the ammo I have tried so far has fired without any problem it has been Winchester,Remington and Federal as well as Tula,Fiocchi,Moarch and Perfecta.Who ever did the work on this old gun did it right.

I, and doubtlessly countless other big bore shooters, really thought that S&W should have produced the 1955 Target/Model 25-2 guns with 4 inch barrels and ramped front sights. They would have been primo law enforcement holster guns, especially during the times when the chiefs and sherffs didn't trust semiautomatic pistols..

Regardless of who did the work, it sounds like it was skillfully performed with reliability and shootability in mind. I have a soft spot for S&W "working man's" revolvers. While S&W has created some beautiful products over the years, the ones that have been customized by their owners really catch my eye. Sounds like you fell onto a real gem.
