Modified Smiths

Never had as many as Allen-frame (that 1950 Target kills me, beautiful piece!!) and I sold off the majority of my custom wheel guns a few years ago. Did hang on to a few favorites,
though, always happy to post pics when the opportunity presents itself.

This is my "CROWBAR" built by Marc Krebs of Krebs Custom Guns. He's best known for his work with 1911s and AKs, this is very likely the only custom revolver he ever built,
commissioned by an IL cop back in 1987. It's an M28 Highway Patrolman converted to .45ACP with an M25 barrel and cylinder, cut down to 4". The porting is obvious, but as you
look the gun over the attention to detail and the subtle touches begin to reveal themselves. Yes, those are ivory inserts with scrimshawed crowbars set in custom ebony combat grips.

This M360J was rechambered to 9mm (9x23) by Mark Hartshorne of Pinnacle High Performance Guns about 6 years ago. He also bobbed it, installed the fiber optic front sight, did and action job,
cut it for moon clips, chamfered all the charge holes and the forcing cone. I carried it as a BUG until I retired from LE, never had any trouble with it. Always performed exceptionally,
now it's back with Mark getting a Ti .38spl cylinder fitted to it for a little more versatility.

This M10-6 was someone's aborted PPC project that I took pity on, still not sure why. Dietrich's gunsmithy got
it running, recontoured the 686 barrel, prepped it, bead blasted everything, and I sent it off to
Mahosky's Metalife to be hard chromed. The result of all that effort is a sweet house gun for my wife. The classic silk purse.:)

625-4 Performance Center

This one was done by Jimmy Raye in the Performance Center. One of my favorites. SDM Front Sight, Bobbed Hammer, PC Action Job, lightweight Barrel, Short Cylinder, Over Travel Stop, Custom Trigger. AND best of ALL. PRELOCK. It's what a Miculek 625-8 PC would be like if Prelock

One from someone who was very serious about their target work.

The Modifications to me are subtle but very purposeful.
The rear blade to me is a very neat design

Both the front and rear sights are anti glare.......it does make a difference.
The Stocks were relieved for a straight shot to the thumb release.
A trigger shoe was added. The hammer was changed to a target variety.

who did the work? I picked up a 629-1 from a local shop that has the same polished turn ring, polished hammer and trigger, and the same muzzle work. The shop didn't know anything about when I got it. mine had a bead blast finish but the muzzle was getting shiny so I polished the rest to match, it's hard to see the turn ring polish

This Model 686 was made in 1989, and the work was done by a gunsmith named Andy Cannon. This particular gun was owned by the actor Charlie Sheen, and was sold through a dealer after Mr. Sheen was forced to give up his guns due to legal problems. I've owned this gun sine 2001. I could not tell you for sure if Andy Cannon did your work. I do have provenance with mine. Hope that helps.

That 44 is quite the piece, I think it would look great with a heavy bead blast finish and combats. How does it handle with magnums?

if I would have known what it was I would have never polished off the finish. I plan on getting it bead blasted once I find someone to do it. the trigger is super smooth in double action and so light in single you have to be ready to shoot before you put your finger on it.it has less recoil than my 7.5 super redhawk shooting the same ammo. definitely a sweet revolver. I have been looking at the ahrend combats.

Just picked this one up a couple weeks ago. Triple lock 455 converted to 45acp. EVERYTHING has been replaced or modified. It's growing on me.

this 629 no dash was chopped on both ends, RB, combats, ported, right side of trigger rounded, action job, 2 1/2" bbl. I use 1000fps 250g loads. NOw with yellow front sight insert.

I'm kinda liking that triple lock myself !!

This is one of only two Modified revolvers that I have.
586-jeweled hammer, jeweled and re-contoured trigger. tuned action and cylinder. This gun was formally owned by a young local LEO who was on the competition shooting team for her unit. I purchased it from her when she decided to move up into the semi auto tactical shooting class. She was first in her class with this 586 for several years running beating out most of the men on her team. I personally saw the trophy's, ribbons and accolades that she won and achieved with this gun. it is one of my most cherished revolvers. The only thing that I have added are these Ahrends grips.
