Modifying M&P frame?

Strange dilemma, I am right handed and a couple years ago I trashed my thumb and had to have surgery. My thumb joint is now a little bulgy from scar tissue. It gets a little sore after a while from recoil. Is it possible to file/dremel a small divot near the tang to give a little relief? Or would that compromise the strength of the polymer? Thanks!

Polymer is really tough. Don't go too thin and you'll be fine. Also, dont go too close to where a pin goes through for example. I know these frames are re enforced with a metal core, but where those pieces are located, is unknown. I suppose you could detail strip the gun, and have the frame x- rayed. That would tell you a lot.
