How many have a MOE edition that has a gap between the receiver and the top curve of the grip(where web of hand fits on grip)? Mine does and I thought all did. Someone else had told me theirs don't.
My original question though is: Will the "MIAD grip wedge" fit in there to fill the gap? Or is there any other fixes? It's all cosmetic, but it bothers me to see it.

I have the basic 15-22 model but I have magpul furniture on it, to my knowledge all 15-22s with the magpul grip will have the gap in there but the wedge that magpul sells will fit in there if it bothers you. I personally don't mind it.

Yep, mine has the gap.

Nope, doesn't bother me, in either the looks or operation. I had to look to see if I had it or not.

Yeah, I didn't notice that there was a gap on my MOE 15-22 until someone said something about it online. So, apparently it didn't bother me and still doesn't, ha!

The gap is there because the 15-22 receivers aren't "mil-spec". The dimensions are different in order to make them strong enough for using polymer and also to prevent the installation of a standard AR upper onto a 15-22 lower.

Consider this: USGI AR15 magazines are metal and are thinner than polymer magazines. To have the same amount of strength the polymer ones have to be thicker.

I was just curious is there was a fix for the gap? I seen the MIAD Grip Wedge and wondered if it would work. Figured someone here tried it or knew.

I bought the wedge for the heck of it to see if it would close the gap. The wedge is much larger then what is needed to fit here. I cut more then half of it off and placed the smaller part in to fill the gap. I did place some glue on it to stay in.

You can see it in the pic. Sorry don't have a close up shot yet.

I just use the better grips from Ergo that have the extension built it. Plus they come with a gap filler wedge for the back bottom of the trigger guard also.

Here's a close up shot of the Magpul wedge. It works fine, you just need to use a dremel tool to grind away a bit of the wedge to make it fit.

My MOE edition came with the "gap" also. So I bought the Hogue grip which doesn't have the curved part at the top of the grip. It fit snugly and feels good! No cutting, sanding, dremel work needed.....;)

I've shot 15-22s and ARs with both pistol grips. I must prefer the Hogue, and that's what I have on mine.

i like the hogue on my pistol but it was too narrow for my 15-22. i went with the miad with large backstrap and the wedge. no fitting necessary and works great.

Interesting ...

It's a perfect fit on mine.

With or with out filling this gap, what effect does it have on the function of the rifle?

I think he was saying the Hogue grip is too small for his hands. Same here. I like Hogue products, but the AR grip isn't for me. The finger grooves don't fit my hand.

I used a MIAD with the b3 too for the first year of having my 15-22, but recently switched to the MOE+. I might go back to the MIAD eventually, but the MOE+ is nice too. Decisions decisions. I wish Magpul would make a MIAD+. They need to make an AFG2+ too.

Nothing

I think it looks better without the wedge myself.

actually the wedge does help with keeping the detent spring raised, otherwise its too low and the pin works itself out. i found that out when i was doing my trigger and after researching some diy fixes, i was very pleased to find that magpul made the wedge to specifically solve that problem.

and yes, the ar hogue is too small for my hands but i run a hogue grip on my xd 4" and love it.

On the 15-22, the takedown pin retention spring is held in place by the grip, as opposed to ARs where it is held in place by the tube. With an aftermarket Magpul grip it will fall into the grip and will not retain the takedown pin. The wedge solves that problem and fill in the gap as well. Not sure how they solve that problem on MOE versions. I have the MIAD grip and wedge also. FWIW I didn't have to file mine to fit either.

What is different with a + version?
