Hi, i'm a new member and have been really looking into the 15-22 and decided to pull the trigger now I just can't decide on the
MOE or A1, I did handle an A1 and liked the sights. What do you guys think?

I think that the MOE is the way to go. The stock and grip are among the first things you would probably change out on an A1. The MOE stock, grip and sights are all nice. That being said, if you have your eyes on other furniture for it, get the A1. I've had all of the MOE parts on mine at one time or another and the only one left is the MBUS rear sight.

I'd get the moe for the built in sling attachment points in the lower. other than that you could just add all the magpul stuff to the a1.

It I'd a bit more expensive to add all the Magpul stuff than to buy the MOE version, too. The stock is now almost $60, the sights are almost $90 and the grip is $13. You CAN add the sling swivels yourself for about $15, but it means drilling into your receiver and many people are quite hesitant to do that (I did it.)

i was thinking more along the lines of buying the moe, and selling the magpul stuff off of it and replacing stuff with the a1 parts desired, and still have integrated sling mounts without voiding the warranty.

I have the A-1 and I am pleased with it. I did was add a carry handle and scope.

Good luck getting enough money to make it worth the effort. It would be very difficult to sell the used Magpul furniture for anything close to what it sells for new online. And yes, even if you never shot it, it's still used. Then you have to buy A1 versions of what you just sold at a loss. I don't really see the sense in that plan.

I've owned both and you can't go wrong with either version. On my A1 the only thing I did to it was to change the rear sight by adding a carry handle. The MOE version is to me perfect as is and is my favorite M&P15-22. If you can handle both side by side it would greatly aid your decision. The M&P15-22 is a good rifle in any version and whatever you choose you'll be very happy with.

Thanks for the input guys! It's a tough decision! I would like to handle the MOE first before i make my decision but they seem to be hard to find in shops more so than the A1. The one thing leaning me towards the A1 is the fact that I plan on replacing the grip with a Hogue and I am a fan of A1 sites. Does the magpul site have the option of different sized peeps?

Yes the Magpul rear sight has two peeps, one small and one large. There is a leaf that folds forward exposing the larger the two.

If you want to change things right away, just go get the A1 right now. The MOE is a great value if you really want all that Magpul stuff in the first place. At the time, both the A1 & MOE were in stock when I was deciding and I would have been happy with both since there's no performance with one over the other.

I just went through the exact same choice. I checked with a trusted friend who teaches this stuff and has at least 1 of almost everything. He said he had both the A1 & MOE versions, and he personally didn't think it was worth the extra money to get the MOE version. I trust his judgement and figured eventually if I wanted the MOE parts I can get them later. So now I'm the new owner of a M&P 15-22 A1! Can't wait to shoot it.

not saying it's going to be profitable, but the sights and stock could fetch a fair amount, my only real point is that the moe has the slightly nicer lower not requiring any destructive actions to add an integrated sling adapter.

you can dress an moe as an a1 and keep the warranty, not so the other way around. just my thoughts on that. selling those moe parts at a discount would purely be a step to not spend any more dressing such a basic rifle.

Yea, that's what I was thinking too. The upgrade options seem to be endless with these things.

The only thing (besides getting an extra Mag when purchased) I've ordered for it is the Magpul AFG2. Should get it here pretty soon.
