Fortunately this happened in Virginia where firearm ownership is allowed and personal safety is encouraged. Had this been in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts or another liberal, progressive democrat state where a "Duty to Retreat" is the law, and firearm ownership is restricted, who knows what the outcome would have been? And if you did use a firearm in those states, even to protect yourself or family, YOU would be led away in handcuffs.....and the perp would be labeled as the victim! SAD, SAD for the people that live in those states.

Uh, ahem.

*There's no duty to retreat inside the home in New York.
*My Glock goes pretty much everywhere I go. Perfectly legal.

2 females in a house, one a youngster, abusive male outside trying to get in and throwing masonry through the door, clearly an intention to do harm, the girls must have been terrified, deserved all he got plus more.
Then it turns out he's bought rape tape, a knife and pepper spray. Should have been put out of his misery.
But in some ways at least the mother isn't carryng any guilt about taking his life, hopefully he's crippled enough to not be a threat to anybody else.
